DEBRA SARAH TIFFANY NITA RAVINDRAN!

To the one heck of a super gaya chick with one heck of a voice, Happy Birthday! May God open your eyes to see that supporting Man. Utd. is for losers. And of course, fulfill the desires of your heart... *hint hint*

Yeah, and I added her first two middle(?!) names... cuz they sounded... Indian.

#223: Of Poems. And Not So Good Ones.

While we're still in the mood for fine poetry and such, now would be an appropriate time to exhibit a simple contrast between a poem... and a... not-so-good-one.

Math turns my brain to mush,
My mind you cannot rush,
But these numbers- Oh help me!
Math just isn't right for me.

My point is made- so sue me.
by Cedric

Math is so good
Math is like food
Just find the root
And up high you will shoot!

To the tune of God is so good!
by Shakespeare Jasmine

On for round 2? *grin*

"We don't write poetry because we think it's cute,
we write poetry because we are members of the human race,
and the human race is filled with passion."

-Robin Williams as John Keating in Dead Poets Society

#222: Jubilation: A Poem by Cedric

Dark clouds go away!
You're not gonna spoil my day.
For happiness is all around,
Undefinable joy that I have found.

It all happened yesterday,
The sun was smiling, the clouds were gay,
Dad fetched me to my destiny,
Somewhere in PJ- but that's doesn't matter to me.

We arrived at a building,
Walked the stairs- I was shaking,
With excitement of something exciting,
By the time I reached the door, I was grinning.

I said hi to the lady,
Who said I'll be with you shortly,
And came back with MY treasure,
MY beautiful treasure I was to keep forever.

I went back to the car with Dad and Mum,
My heart was beating like a drum,
I looked down into my hand,
And laid my eyes on a prize so grand.

Across a strip of paper- big bold words screamed,
'SWITCHFOOT LIVE IN MALAYSIA'- I was in a dream,
I am content- even more than that,
I am happy- how bout that?

#221: Of Lions and Depression

While it may be a tragedy for Aaron or Jean, it'll still count as an 'improvement' for me- I read two books in the past two weeks.

Okay, make that one and a half (one of it's a comic), but I swear I can feel my brainpower increasing.

Pride of Baghdad
(graphic novel)

A 2006 work of pure brilliance by Brian K. Vaughn and Niko Henrichon, Pride of Baghdad accounts a fictionalized version of the true story of four lions that escaped from the Baghdad Zoo after an American bombing in 2003.

Amazing artwork and a strong storyline- Pride of Baghdad gets my vote.

The Colour Of Hope

Not the cheeriest story, but I enjoyed it. While Susan Madison may have given it an 'uplifting' title, let me be honest. Soaked in depression and darkness, I'd advise you not to read this should you be having a bad day. Overall a good read.

And now it's time to take what I've filled my tiny brain capacity with, and empty it- Time to watch How I Met Your Mother reruns!

#219: Wonders

Wonders. Part 1.
A poem by Cedric Cha

Wonders all around,
A flower blooming,
A girl singing,
Miracles abound.

Wonders like the Rubik's Cube,
Can't you help but ponder,
Then there's just another wonder,
How we find 'these' videos on YouTube.

Wonders. Part 2.
Another poem by Cedric Cha

There's another wonder,
Wonder woman.

(Who says poems have to rhyme?)

And make sure you watch those videos above. They're herr.. wait for it... larious!!!

#216: "We'ree Awakeninnngggg!"

Follow up to previous post: In case you were doubting my faith in Switchfoot due to an expired update, you doubted wrong.

No, this isn't some ad spoof or fantasy lived out on Photoshop, this is FOR REAL. Call me kiasu, but I wasn't on planning on this update till I was sure of the availability of MY tickets. Yes. MY.

And now that I'm assured (or I'll sue Axcess Ticketing) of my tickets, here I am, all ecstatic at the prospect of rocking at Switchfoot's concert.

Sure, the non-believers may be shrugging and wondering what's up with all the hype, but here's how it goes: I have a list (NOT written on paper) of my 'Lifetime Dreams'. All fairly realistic and achievable, do not worry, man of little faith (notice how I still manage to apply Scripture to a blog post?).
  • Marry a baker
  • Own and drive a Volkswagen van
  • Attend a Switchfoot concert
  • Watch an Arsenal match live
  • Illustrate a children's book
-Not in order of importance

And what I have here is a possible...

  • Marry a baker
  • Own and drive a Volkswagen van
  • Attend a Switchfoot concert
  • Watch an Arsenal match live
  • Illustrate a children's book

So I believe you have a better understanding of my hype and ecstasy. I'll see you rocking out on February second, guys!

The angels sing in harmonious chorus,
The saints shall rejoice,
For Switchfoot's coming over here,
Prepare to lose your voice.

#215: "Here we are now in the falling sky and the rain..."

I lean back on the chair my bony buttock rests on. I stretch my spine and let out a loud sigh.

This chair could use a cushion.

But instead of abandoning my sitting poise to look for a piece of cloth stuffed with feathers, I transfer the very little energy I have left in me to my hand and to the tip of my fingers. There I use all my might, to control the mouse of my computer and position the cursor over Windows Media Player. I grimace. My energy is draining with every ounce of strength I use to press the mouse button.

Click.

A new window appears on my desktop almost immediately. Okay, fine. It took quite awhile. (My computer needs an upgrade *hint hint*)

Despite the all the energy in my body extinguished, I find myself and my mouse cursor mysteriously drawn to a word somewhere along the 'Artists' list. For just a single word, the magic and power it exhibits is somewhat haunting. I lean closer to the screen to get a clearer look at the word.

Switchfoot.

As sudden as a purple giraffe coming out of your bathroom, a voice filled my head with thoughts. In an eerie, spine-chilling voice, it screamed out to me.

Click it.

Click it.

Click ittttttttttt...

As un-superstitious as I was, I still wasn't taking any chances. I had watched my fair share of 'stalker/ghost phone call' movies, and fear engulfed me. I felt as if the urine in my bladder was about to burst out in fear. (Okay, maybe that wasn't necessary)

I cringed and bit my teeth as I summoned the remaining 'drops' of energy inside of me. Battling my mind against my unwilling body, I forced my finger down hard on the button, so hard it clicked twice, and collapsed on the floor.

And then, a hauntingly beautiful voice echoes through my ears...

"Yeaa aaa aaa ahhh..."

A fresh breath of life fills my lungs. My heart starts beating. My body gets filled with electricity. I somehow find myself lifted up off the ground by a tremendous energy, and before I knew it, found myself rocking out with my air guitar to the melodic guitar symphonies of Jon Foreman and his band, Switchfoot.

Part 2 in 2 days.

#214: Two Thousand Eight

As the new year kicks off, I find myself somewhat loaded with busy-ness again. Oh well, might as well learn to live with it, right? But somewhere in the midst of a fair load of work to do, I've managed to compile my '2008 New Year Resolutions' list.

  • Get a girlfriend
  • Get a tattoo
  • Learn to drive
  • Start working

Somehow, mum didn't seem quite the visionary I had expected.
