#237: Jie Jie

Yes, as impossible as it seems, I was fat.

To be one of the three people to have survived me me for 16 years isn't easy. Imagine how hard it would be to handle someone being awesome-r than you.

Oh. Right. This post is about me her.

For being my 'sexual terms' dictionary, for those mark-imprinting slaps on the back, for those life-changing Switchfoot records, for those AWESOME brownies, and of course, for just surviving me- Here's to one heck of a sister.

Happy Birthday!

#236: Of New Layouts

Well what do you know,
A layout so new,
It's all just for show,
Though I would like one too.

But wait, you say,
What's with the pink,
It's pretty gay,
Don't you give me a wink. (for males only)

But pink is cool!
It was the new black,
This color does rule,
It's the old new black.

Enough about colors,
Let's talk about this,
The layout looks simpler,
What's the meaning of this?

It's awesome.
It's different.
It's new.
And it doesn't have to rhyme either.

#235: I was gonna post up a tag...

...but instead share with you good news of great joy. (Christmas is in the heart, right?)

Like he said in his latest newsletter, Jon Foreman fans are up for a treat in the near future. First of all, his third EP, 'Spring' is slated for an April 15th release, which is coincidently just nine days before my birthday. No hinting there, just thought you would want to know. *wink*

Also, his side project, The Real SeanJon, a collaboration with Sean Watkins from Nickel Creek, will be coming out in the next few months! I'm really looking forward to that one.

AND, Jon's starting work on the next Switchfoot record with Tim. Those deep, meaningful lyrics are coming back!

And finally, go check out Nickel Creek on their myspace. They've got some good stuff up there. They're a different type of an acoustic band, with their own unique sound, which IS nice for a change.

Go go go.

#234: Deja Vu

Have you seen something you know you've seen before,
Yet you can never explain the mystery of it all?
Has it ever happened to you?
What you just experienced was deja vu.

Have you seen something you know you've seen before,
Yet you can never explain the mystery of it all?
Has it ever happened to you?
What you just experienced was deja vu.

Have you seen something you know you've seen before,
Yet you can never explain the mystery of it all?
Has it ever happened to you?
What you just experienced was deja vu.

#231: When Cedric Met Jon Foreman: Part 2

Picking up from where we left, the last time I checked, I was face to face with Tim Foreman, and more importantly, I wasn't dreaming.

Tim: Hey, how you doin'?
Me: I'm good. Great concert.

What? Fine. Okay. It was more like this.

Me: I...I'm good. G... Great concert..t.
*Slightly awkward pause as he signs my poster*

Me: I...I'm you guys' biggest fan. You guys are the best. (Woo! I got over stammering. Or so I thought.)
Tim: Really? That's great.
Me: Thanks.
Tim: Alright.

After two steps to the right, I was good as flashbanged. I was face to face with Jon Foreman. Only a table separating the two of us. . . Not that. I wanted. To get any closer. Back on track- my heart was beating more times a second than Aron Tan stole in his whole life(that's a lot, mind you).

Jon: Hi. What's your name?
Me: I'm Cedric.
*Just a little awkward pause*

Me: I... I'm you guys' biggest fan. (I said I was flashbanged, right?)
Jon: Thanks. That's a nice shirt.
Me: Th... Thanks.

He was done signing my poster. No. Not enough. I had to say more.

Me: Good job on your EP. I really loved it. Great stuff!
Jon: Thanks so much.

Life was never so fulfilling (Figure of speech, people.). I'd bet my ang pau money I was one of the few, if not the only person to have said something about his solo EP (Yes, he has one. Did you know that?). I was dazed, so dazed that I was silent the whole time as...

Jerome...

Drew...

...and Chad...

...signed the poster and shook my hand. Yup, THAT stunned.

What happen afterward is a blur in my memory. If I wasn't mistaken, I was floating among the clouds, until Jun Min said it was time to go.

And the tale concludes.

Author's note: In case you're wondering, why this post wasn't decorated with colorful words complimented by MULTIPLE adjectives, along with some poetry and some other 'Cedric big post' content, like I said, it's probably unfathomable with words describing the feeling. Just let the power of simple language carry you to the clouds I was floating on... Sigh...

Talk about drama, eh? *wink*

#230: Ren Dum

Hold on to your seats, folks! Cuz I'm NOT gonna get to the part where I meet Switchfoot. Yet. (you didn't think I'd let you off this easy, did you?) But why dwell on my evil and torturous nature when I could. . . . . Oh forget it. Here's a dose of randomness for you.

To Kristy and Jean, the two super-ladies who've probably gotten too tired of Jared and decided to find refuge in the cursed land of Australia, you will be dearly missed! Bring back some candy! *grin* (I'll leave the photo uploads to Isaac Ravi. He's posted the good, the bad, and the ugly all up on his blog)

If you're wondering, why is this random? Chill out. That's the way I planned it. Start off with some emo material, and end with a 'bang'! (you'll see what I mean)

So we're in the in-between part now. Comics!

PBF Comics. Gets me every time. (Click for larger view)

Comics. What would we do without them? Well, we wouldn't have known Spiderman's cooler than Batman, we would never have known Wonder Woman and I were destined for each other, and of course, this blog post would be left an empty spot.

And put The Other Side on your reading list. That is, if you enjoy the typical Vertigo graphic novels of gore, vulgarity, and sex some other 'objectionable' content. (I read it for the art, OF COURSE) Awesome stuff.

We're at the end-of-the-middle part. Photos of random content!

-Taken at the latest ThinkTank meeting. (Thanks Josh for the pics)

Since he asked...

This never happened okay?

Now we're at the end. The Big Bang!

The Switchfoot Syndrome is still fresh and very much alive!

Podcast #30!

Now that my blogging instinct tells me that The Big Bang has had the appropriate amount of glory deserved, I'll end here. For now.

Up next: When Cedric Met Jon Foreman: Part 2! (In case you're wondering, I'm just working on a little something that would make the post all the more 'splendor-ous'. Cheers!)

#229: When Cedric Met Jon Foreman: Part 1

No. This isn't a joke. I really did. But instead of just letting you sit there, mouth gaping in awe, let me rub it in just a little for you. Let's start from the beginning.

Not really THE beginning. More like the beginning of the ending, when the concert ended. (?!) The Switchfoot aftermath was fresh and all around the air, and the crowd was to pushing queuing-up for their autographs. Thanks to my Malaysian-bred kiasu-ness AND slim-built figure, I found myself cutting lines joining a friend who was among the front portion of the queue. As I edged closer to my turn, my heartbeat was faster than Chad Butler's killer drum-sticks. I pinched myself, making sure this wasn't a dream.

2 people stood in my way from reaching my destiny. My heart-rate rose absurdly, and was still rapidly rising.

One more person. (Heart-rate rises from absurdly fast, to any-faster-and-you'll-die fast)

My turn.

Had it not been for my strong bones (Thank you Dumex 3 plus!) and muscular build, I'm almost sure my heart would have burst out of my chest and leave a bloody mess for Tim Foreman to clean up...

To be continued...

#228: Switchfoot Live In KL: The Unspeakable Concert

Switchfoot was...

Wait. Not enough build-up.

Even if Jessica Alba held my hand on Saturday, Switchfoot would still be the biggest thing to happen all day.

Nope. Still not enough.

If aliens with pink teeth and green eyeballs invaded our planet and killed Jessica Alba, Switchfoot would still be the biggest thing to happen all day.

The concert from my point of view. Coincidently, this is the video from YouTube with the best quality. Just move left a good 10 feet and you'll be me.

For those who did not make it, I'm musing over whether to drown you with pity or to just rub it in your face.

I'm at a loss for words describing Saturday's concert. Where do I start? With the gangster lights? Or the insane energy exhibited by the band? How about the flawless sound system? Here's the bottomline: This is one of, if not the best thing that ever happened to me in my 5,760 days on this planet.

They just blow me away. I seriously cannot describe it to you. (You'll only understand if you were there yourself, and (almost) as die-hard a fan as me. (I'm ONLY ONE OF A KIND. you can't be/beat me.)

I'd have emptied my bank account for Saturday. (ONLY figure of speech in this post, mind you) Worth every cent of what I paid.

"For me, I see so many inconsistencies in the way I want to see the world and the way it is. There's a tension that exists between who I am and who I wanna be. And so many times for me, the release is found in song. The release is found in music. And I'd like to thank you for being a part of that dream tonight."

-Jon Foreman

And that's all you're gonna get from me. Unless, I've been talking my head off about it to you.

#227: But I'm going to Switchfoot

I could be drinking, sleeping, eating, walking,
bathing, drawing, singing, blogging,
dancing, shouting, clubbing, smoking,
But I'm going to Switchfoot.

I should be studying, drawing, working, reading,
Tidying, cleaning, washing, wiping,
Helping, sharing, loving, caring,
But I'm going to Switchfoot.

You may be puzzled, jealous, confused, thoughtful,
Excited, happy, depressed, content,
Hyper, ecstatic, bored, or pissed,
But I'm going to Switchfoot.

I may like 'Awakening', 'Stars', or 'Meant to Live'
'Dare You to Move' or 'Only Hope',
'Yesterdays', 'Ammunition', 'Learning to Breathe',
But I'm going to Switchfoot.

I am the happiest person on the planet,
The day couldn't get better,
My life is complete,
'CUZ I'm going to Switchfoot.

The familiar sight of Jon Foreman leaping on the bass drum and screaming his heart out I've seen only on YouTube, (hopefully) comes to life tonight. Today's my day. No one else's.

But have a good day anyway.
