#213: It just seemed like yesterday...

...that the year 2007 had begun. But now as the year comes to close, it's just feel-good memories from the year that all happened so fast- and a few particular events/happenings this year that were really worth remembering.

-Of course, there's being in the committee for Youth Church's annual camp for the first time. The tireless hours spent in preparation and more importantly, prayer, the good times we had as a committee, and of course, enjoying camp itself. Being in the committee definitely taught me patience, diligence, teamwork, the importance of prayer, and ultimately, the need for God in our lives(among the other many things I've learnt).

-2007 for me was also a time where I've continued to strengthen relationships with God, friends, and family. Also meeting and getting to know a lot more people better was great for me this year. Exchanging secrets and sharing laughter and memories- sigh... good times...

-Releasing the new bloomunkee site and my very own art blog were among the many 'artsy' things I've accomplished this year. Other notable happenings were submitting my very first Threadless design (despite not winning), working on more 'projects'-both personal and for customers, getting my drawings/designs printed on t-shirts (for YC Camp and hopefully sometime soon for LoL! Tees), and of course, just enjoying drawing on a whole different level.

-Then there was the extremely good year in the entertainment side for me as well. Really, really good movies were released this year- namely Stranger Than Fiction, Transformers, The Kingdom, The Simpsons Movie, Reign Over Me, and others I've forgotten to name. And there's three mega-awesome albums that came out this year: Switchfoot's 'Oh! Gravity', Paramore's 'Riot!' and John Mayer's 'Continuum'. Really enjoyable and worth listening to again and again. And the ultimate climax of the year, finding out Switchfoot will be holding a concert here in Malaysia next year.

And many others, that complete a memorable 2007 for me-

  • Arsenal hitting fine form
  • A mighty fine December (previous post)
  • My pals Bus Company winning two band titles (MRSC and BOTB '07)
  • Aron and Elselyn leaving and returning to Malaysia
  • Winning RM150 and some other stuff at a badminton tournament

And the list goes on... and on...

Even now as 2008 approaches, I can't help but get excited and look forward to a whole new year, full of excitement and truckload of busy-ness and enjoyment.

But that will have to wait. (update coming soon!)

Until then, Happy 2008.

#212: Help! I love you!

Yes, I need your help, and I will LOVE you for it.

Two of my 'other site's have been shortlisted for the The Malaysian Dotcom Youth Search.

What is The Malaysian Dotcom Youth Search?
Established in conjunction with Youth ’08 - Malaysia’s Youth Lifestyle Showcase, The Malaysian Dotcom Youth Search is the hunt for websites, portals and even blogs with the ability to generate income and influence communities with an innovative factor. From a community of submitted websites, we evaluate and select the hottest entries to give recognition to technologically savvy youths under 30 working hard behind these sites.

Apparently the prize and a fair share of cash, and how you can help contribute to this oh-so-important cause is by clicking a little colorful button on the top right corner of the screen whenever you visit the site. Click it every time you come online, and you will have played a crucial role in making me a happier, richer man. (of course, I'll definitely do something for you in return!)

So yeah, visit these two links below and start clicking!

I love you. Only if you voted.

...and the list goes on... and on...

#210: A Fairytale

Once upon a time, in the magical land of Malaya, there lived a beautiful princess named Cedric. All his her life, Cedric had been dreaming of a true love's kiss attending a concert held by a prince of the foreign land of the USA, Jon Foreman, and his army of knights, also known as Switchfoot. Even as the years passed, Cedric still found herself awaiting her prince to come and rescue her from the evil world of hip-hop...

-----------------------

Fast forward to modern day Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia (formerly known as Malaya). While encountering a magical wizard, Cedric found himself transformed into an extremely macho, good-looking man. Despite his 'gender reverse', his love for Jon Foreman and Switchfoot grew even stronger. In a not-gay sort of way, of course.

And so one jolly day, Cedric was on his PC, surfing the net, and suffering a bad case of the boredoms. Despite visiting it a day before, Cedric found himself magically drawn to the power of switchfoot.com. As he browsed through the site, noticing very little changes, he remembered Switchfoot was on an expedition to Malaysia's neighbours, Singapore. Sure, Cedric was a poor servant girl... I mean boy. But his dream was still going strong, so he decided to 'just curiously inquire' about the Singapore escapade.

Clicking 'Tour' on the Switchfoot site and holding his cursor over 'Singapore Max Pavilion- Ticket Link', Cedric's finger was poised to press his mouse button, and then,

'IT' happened.

'IT' was Cedric's ever-distracted eyes fell on a faint group of words just below '1.31 Singapore'. And to his utmost surprise, saw this-

Before we continue, let me say this: "REAL MEN CRY. And giggle sometimes."

Okay. Continue.

Tears of joy streamed down Cedric's face as he sat there, stunned, and staring. Not because they had mispelt 'Kuala Lumpur', but well, it was a dream come true.

Yes, boys and girls, dream do come true. All you need is faith, trust, pixie dust. And I'm sure, very sure, that Cedric will live happily ever after.

The End.

Boys and girls, the story that you have just read is not completely true, but not completely false either. Cedric was a macho, good-looking lad ALL ALONG, and never a *yuck* female. No, Switchfoot is not a group of gallant knights, but a rock band. (One rock band that your parents will let you listen to) Cedric is not a servant boy either, but treated like one by his evil siblings. Other than that, I guess the rest of the story is nothing but the truth.

If any girls named Danielle, Denise, Crystal, Kelsey, or Elselyn tell you I'm not good-looking or macho, kick them and say "Liar!"

The season of love, hope, and good will is here. So that means you can't skip watching this video.

C'mon. You know the vids I post on my blog are good stuff. When have I ever failed you? Okay, is saying "it has something to do with Indians" convincing enough?

#206: It's All Over

A prisoner outside the prison gates.

A Form 5 completing SPM.

Cedric getting done with YC Camp affairs.

Yes, freedom is sweet. Camp has just concluded today and left me drained. But what the heck,

#205: Ouch.

When a musician is unskilled at his instrument, they take it away, give him two sticks, and make him a drummer.

And if he's worse, they take one stick away and make him a conductor.

P/S- No offense was directed to any drummers. Drummers rock- especially a special one I happen to know. *wink*

As for conductors, oh well...

#204: The Turbulent Week

What made my week
  • Completing 60% of YC Camp's backdrop
  • Watching two good movies in a week (The Kingdom and Evan Almighty)
  • Playing Counter-Strike for the first time in 3 weeks

What un-made my week
  • Watching Enchanted
  • Arsenal losing their first EPL match of the season
  • Finding out I giggle (which is manly now that I do it)

New week, here I come.

#203: A Poem For You

It's been awhile,
What else can I say,
I'm updating this ol' blog,
Now don't go away.

My life has been okay,
A fair share of ups and downs,
Now you know that I am,
More than just being 3 clowns.

Wait- you say- three clowns?
But you are only one person,
But- I say- I am funny,
Funnier than a duo, or threesome.

I've been pretty busy,
With stuff for the year end camp,
No- make that REALLY busy,
I've been regularly burning the midnight lamp.

But all's well- we're almost good to go,
If you haven't signed up- Better do,
Cuz it's gonna awesome,
Even if we don't have you.

I've got a reason to shout for joy!
Jon Foreman's 'Fall EP' now adorns,
My Windows Media Player,
And with that- a Foreman fan is born.

And you say to yourself,
Like he was born only now,
That guy is Switchfoot crazy,
Their songs go into him like grass into a cow.

But enough about Foreman,
The hip-hop fans are sooo interested,
Let's talk about something common,
Like Disney movies! Don't get me started.

I watched Enchanted at the mall today,
The amount of corniness- it's not funny anymore,
But what can I say- It's Disney,
Not like you were expecting something like Terminator.

If you're corniness intolerant,
I tell you this- avoid this movie,
Or you'll nosebleed real bad,
And get it all over your tee.

That's all I can think about now,
And I've gotta work on camp stuff,
I'm a busy man- how responsible,
Not like you regular movie buffs.

So I bid thee farewell,
Until the next update,
So remember- sign up for camp,
And don't be late.

Wait that's not a way to end it,
I need something of greater splendor,
I am awesome,
Full stop- not a comma.
