#192: La-laness Savez

At first glance they may look like punks on a hangover, but la-laness, a peculiar fashion trend mainly sported by Asian teens under Canto-pop influence, has life longevity attributes, recent studies by a research team based in Sierra Leone show. The team, led by Prof. Amtoofree of Nigeria, have identified specific elements of this distasteful vogue to help preserve the lives of an average human being. "La-laness has had it's fair share of support and disapproval." Amtoofree stated. "But after three months of research, we have reason to believe this trend can save lives." Yesterday, in their first press conference since the studies concluded, Amtoofree and his team presented the key life-saving factors of la-laness-

-Should any thug sneak up on you and pummel you on the head, the sharp spikes of your hair ought to do some damage to the baddie's hand. Recommended gel: Brylcreem

-Covering a third of your face with your hair shields away the sun's hazardous rays, preventing diseases like skin cancer and sun tans.

-Leaving your collar up may slow down bullets fired at your neck by 0.0001 miles per hour.

-In case of sudden 'global freezing', two layers of clothing should keep you toasty warm.

-Should a samurai assault you and slice off your fingers, keeping you thumb in your pocket will preserve it's life, and you will still be capable to text message your 'angelbabez.'

-If ever you should fall off a cliff, the 'ropes' of your pants can combine together to assemble a harness. Assembly time: 30 minutes.

-When a gangster confronts you, be friendly and offer him a game or two of checkers on your checked laces.

"When I first saw a group of people practicing la-laness, I called the police and informed them of an alien invasion, but now, knowing that it saves your life, you can be absolutely sure you'll see me donning the la-la colors." Amtoofree said.

Note: Life-saving factors apply only to male human beings.

#191: Of Drubbings, Hitmen, and La Las

"It's just the start lah."

"Aiya, we all were just giving you chance only."
As the football season progresses, fans of various clubs are mulling over many of their on-the-spot comeback lines made to Arsenal fans after the London club chalks up a victory. Now, as Arsenal extend their winning streak to twelve games (the latest a 7-0 drubbing of Slavia Prague), a sense of worry overwhelms rival fans and their smart-aleck quips.

As Arsenal prepares for match away to Liverpool, I can't help but wonder which fans are panicking. (I'll give you a clue: It's not Arsenal's)

I'm a pretty nice, peace-loving guy. That's why I've decided not to continue to torment rival fans with glorious celebrations of Arsenal and their hot run. So let's not deal on depressing stuff, (for non-Arsenal fans. See how I make such an effort to cater for different types of people?) let's move on to guns and gore galore.

I watched this trailer several months back and was about to lose hope that it wasn't gonna get screened in Malaysia, until two days ago the glorious words of 'Shoot 'Em Up' screamed out to me in the papers.

There's Clive Owen, one of my favorite actors,

there's ONE tasty Monica Belluci *nosebleed*,

and there's, well, shooting 'em up.

And since I said I make an effort to cater to a diverse selection of people, here's something 'exciting' for the xXdarkslayerzXx and ~kool_gurls~ out there.

Looks like la la has no limitations. Be prepared for a whole new level of dosages of 'bleuks' and 'muaxxs'. Buckle your seatbelts, it's gonna be a rough ride.

And I bet you haven't checked THIS out. Go.

I believed I've offended enough rival fans and 'bleuk'-wielding Chinese people, so yes, this is the end.

#190: The Recipe for 'Happy Cedric'

-Completing a blog just for my drawing, after getting inspired by the uncountable sites/blogs of artists, and now it's up- for you to visit! [click]

-Going shopping for one of Cedric's favorite things: pens. 0.1, 0.3, 0.4 tips, calligraphy pens- you name it, he got it! Throw in some sketchpads and Cedric gets ecstatic. (Not to mention he didn't have to pay a penny for the supplies)

-And of course, what can be sweeter than proving that rock rules over hip-hop, with beating Jared in Fighter's Club part of the package?

Not to mention watching victory come into your hands with 4 seconds left.

Mix well and leave for 5 minutes. Cedric ought to be happy by then.

#187: All Things 'Foot

Two videos that ought to get you inspired. And converted-

-On their record The Beautiful Letdown, the album that changed my life.

-Jon Foreman interview on inspiration, influences, and making a difference.

Malaysian radio should have more Switchfoot.

Like Jun Min and Danielle said in their blogs, Malaysian radio is in the dumps. [link][link] With the amount of hip-hop getting airtime, I'll betcha the frogs'll be coming out soon. (Try adopting a 'Jian Shen mindset' to understand the joke- hint: italics)

Aside from their crazy antics, meaningful lyrics, and awesome melodies, Switchfoot's passion in what they do serves as an inspiration to me in various things I do and go through.

I'd choose getting sick over 'Oh! Gravity' over 'Beautiful Girl' anytime.

#184: The Growing Child

My only relative of Indian relation *wink* and one of my favorite people turned 14 on Saturday...

Kelsey! Knowing you for all these (memorable) years has been one heck of a crazy adventure- 'robbers', 'weddings', and boys(hint hint). If I'd rate you on a 'coolness scale' of 1 to 10, I'd say you were hitting an 11! You rock all the socks and buttocks I have!

#182: Reign Over Me

A chance run-in with an old college roommate becomes the catalyst for healing in writer/director Mike Binder's tale of friendship and understanding in post-9/11 New York. When the Twin Towers went down on that fateful morning in 2001, Charlie Fineman lost everything that he had to live for. Five years have passed since Charlie lost his family, and now the once-successful and sociable man has become a withdrawn shadow of his former self. When fate brings Charlie and his former college roommate Alan Johnson together once again on a Manhattan street corner, Alan is shocked to see just how far his old friend has fallen. Though on the surface it would appear that Alan has it all, the pressures of his family and career have been weighing heavily on the successful dentist and loving father's shoulders as of late. At that pivotal moment when Charlie and Alan both needed a trusted friend to help them work through the seemingly insurmountable challenges they face in life, the restorative power of a rekindled friendship provides just the lifeline needed to move forward into the future with hope and optimism.

A simply excellent movie where Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle, two of Hollywood's most talented actors, deliver extremely killer performances. A must-watch and another addition to my 'favorite movies' list.

#181: PMR: Pre- Mental stRess

Modern-day Malaysia: 15 year-old public-schoolers are struggling to survive their sinister plight against the monster of evil. And amidst their darkest hour, a shining beacon of light from the rocking homeschoolers comes to the aid of the public-schoolers, conveying a message of hope and spirit to the world of students plagued with despair.

"Polish your guns, and do yourself. Happy Exams, suckers!"

Don't bother understanding the 'guns' statement. It's a Samuel Lim thing.
